The COKAS Caregiver Support Ministry supports those parishioners juggling the challenges of life, health, and career while caring for a disabled child, parent, or spouse either at home or at a distance. The “Nourish for Caregivers Program” provides caregivers practical and emotional support through shared experiences. The program further offers valuable tools, all with a Christ-centered view. “Bear one another’s burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

The members of the Cursillo Ultreya at COKAS meet monthly or bi-monthly to share their journey through a commitment to prayer, Christian study, and evangelization. A witness talk is given for reflection as further inspiration to those attending. The Ultreya meeting offers encouragement by recognizing others are working to build the Kingdom of God here on earth. The Cursillo motto is “Make a friend. Be a friend. Walk with that friend to Christ.” “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” Matthew 28:19

As Martha served Jesus, Martha’s Ministry serves the needs of the family and friends of the deceased. The members of this ministry organize and provide a reception in the Social Hall immediately following the Funeral Mass. The volunteers decorate a welcoming space, cook and serve food, and comfort grieving people. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

“Memory Boosters” provides an opportunity for caregivers and those they care for to connect with others who are living in the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s or other dementias. Classes are designed to stimulate brain skills, provide light exercise, instruct on healthy eating and encourage social interaction. “Grant me, O Lord, my God, a mind to know you, a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you, conduct pleasing to you, faithful perseverance in waiting for you and a hope of finally embracing you.” Saint Thomas Aquinas

The Prayer Blanket Ministry provides offerings of blankets and shawls to parishioners and the community as a physical comfort for those struggling with afflictions of spirit, mind or body. Blankets are pray-fully crafted at home by volunteers, blessed by the pastor and are FREE to anyone in need. Volunteers provide supplies or accept donated supplies. Quarterly meetings are held to prepare the offerings for blessing, and blankets are distributed twice annually. Blankets and shawls are also available in a bin in the Father Ryan Library, should an immediate need arise.

COKAS Prayer Warriors Ministry serves parish families and friends by praying for their needs under the patronage of Our Lady of Consolation. All are welcome to join this ministry and become a COKAS Prayer Warrior. Prayer requests are gathered via email and sent to the Warriors once each week. Urgent prayer requests are sent out as soon as possible upon receipt. There are no formal meetings to attend; each member is encouraged to pray daily for the needs shared. Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thes. 5:16-18

The Respect Life Ministry encourages all to respect the sacredness of all human life from conception to natural death. Faith is put into action by supporting women, children, and families to make life-affirming choices. The ministry actively promotes a culture of life by conducting the annual Baby Bottle Campaign, organizing the COKAS March for Life, and participating in developing the End of Life Seminar. The stone before the church displays Jeremiah 1:5 ‘Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.’ Every human is known and loved by God and has intrinsic worth.
