The Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian Life (CCC 1324). The Eucharist is a sacrament giving us the real body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus, the Son of God.

First Communion is held in April/May. Children must have two (2) consecutive years of faith formation in order to receive this sacrament. Preparation involves attending 4 classes to prepare for Reconciliation, and 4 classes to prepare for First Holy Communion. These are in addition to regular faith formation classes. Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life, and worship, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully united are ordinarily not admitted to Holy Communion. Eucharistic sharing in exceptional circumstances by other Christians requires permission according to the directives of the diocesan bishop and the provisions of canon law (canon 844 §4) [Guidelines].
